About Elgwin!
Elgwin is a nick I got when I was a lot younger (type going-to-school-age) which I've decided fits me well. So it felt natural to buy a domain name with that nick back in 2003, and finally I've bothered making a web-page on the server.
This web-page is a complete waste of time, and not that much work will be put into this, so don't expect to be enlightned in any way. Some links may contain usefull information, but I doubt it. Unless you play Vikings - War of Clans, then some information might be useful.
An example of useless information is how I got the nick Elgwin. The first three letters is the norwegian
word Elg, which is an Elk/Moose, the king of the forrest. I can't say I'm a man of the forrest nor a king for
that matter, but back then I was a bit skinny and tall, so I may have looked like a young moose stumbling
about on skinny legs.
Now the three last letters are from my real name, but written the english way.
So instead of Edvin they used Edwin, which comes from old english Eadwine, a compound name composed
of the elements ēad (prosperity, fortune, riches) and wine (friend): hence, “wealthy friend.”.
My parents got that wrong. And I prefer to use the word wine in it's drinkable meaning. Sometimes,
when someone ask me my name, I say they can choose: redwine, whitewine or "brennevin" - "brennevin" is
the norwegian word for liquor. I know it's not that funny, but I've got a dry sense of humor -
like a dry martini.
